2016 Blue Diamond Stakes order of entry – February 9

Tom Walter - Wednesday February 10

With two and a half weeks until the Group I Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m), a total of 14 juveniles have passed the highest ballot clause.

Godolphin's Cohesion gained ballot exemption after winning the Blue Diamond Preview for Colts & Geldings (1000m) on Australia Day while 13 other two-year-olds are in the top bracket on the order of entry, having "won $30,000 or more for being placed first to fifth in a race on the flat."

Current favourite Extreme Choice, last Saturday's winner of the Chairman's Stakes, and other leading chances Calliope, Valliano, Concealer, Star Turn, and Defcon are among the 13.

Equal third favourite Flying Artie is equal 19th on the order of entry but can seal a place in the Blue Diamond Stakes field with a top two finish in Saturday's Blue Diamond Prelude for Colts & Geldings (1100m).

Miss Nymeria is quoted around $17 in futures betting but is currently down in equal 42nd position having only earned $3000 in prizemoney.

The grey filly will likely need to win Saturday's Blue Diamond Prelude for Fillies (1100m) to ensure a start in the Blue Diamond Stakes on February 27.

Sword Of Light has won both of her starts including the Blue Diamond Stakes Preview for Fillies (1000m) but is not among the nominations for Caulfield's $1.5 million event. Connections will have to part with a $55,000 late entry fee for the filly to start in the race.

Similarly, connections of Weatherly will have to decide on a late entry fee should the colt succeed in the Blue Diamond Prelude for Colts & Geldings on Saturday.
