She’s a Winner!

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 21
The 2012 Inglis Easter sale-topper when selling for $2,600,000, Black Caviar and All Too Hard's little sister Belle Couture opened her account with a stylish win at Caulfield on Monday.

Belle Couture as a yearlingThe Danny O'Brien trained daughter of Redoute's Choice was sent back to the paddock after finishing second on debut at Bendigo back in December.

Prepped for her return with a recent jumpout, Belle Couture was partnered by Damien Oliver and looked a much improved filly this time around.

She settled at the rear and was allowed to find her feet before zooming home out wide to take the 1200 metre maiden by a couple of lengths.

"It's very exciting as there has been a lot of attention paid to her," said Danny O'Brien.

"We've had to be patient as she's such a big girl and has had a few niggles that have stopped us pushing on with her, but when you see what Peter (Moody) did with her sister it's not hard to be patient."

Belle Couture is likely to remain in work and tackle some of the easier races in Melbourne in coming weeks as she goes about the business of learning to be a racehorse.

"She let down really good today," said Damien Oliver.

"We rode her conservative today to allow her to finish off and that suited her."

Bred by Gilgai Farm and consigned for sale by Makybe as agent, Belle Couture is the fourth winner from four foals to race from super producer Helsinge joining world champion Black Caviar, multiple Group I winner All Too Hard and metro winner Moshe.

Helsinge has a yearling filly by Black Caviar's sire Bel Esprit and a filly foal by All Too Hard's sire Casino Prince, but her two year-old colt by Redoute's Choice that also topped Inglis Easter when selling for $5million last year is sadly no longer with us.

Helsinge was not covered last season.
