Impressive Debut Winner for D’Argento

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 21

On a Saturday when first season sires were making headlines with their offspring filling the trifecta in the Group I ATC Champagne Stakes, Bowness Stud based D’Argento was also having a good day with his first starter Silva ‘n’ Suave an impressive debut winner at the Gold Coast.

Trained by Toby Edmonds, the dark grey gelding showed good ability in a trial win last month and kicked off his career with a dominant three length win in the 1050m maiden.

A $62,000 Magic Millions Book 2 purchase from the Bowness Stud draft for Chris Casey/Dinah Rochfort, Silva ‘n’ Suave is the fifth winner from six to race from My Word, a winning Viscount mare, whose grand-dam Dewanadance was a Group III winner in Italy.

Silva 'n' Suave was bred and sold by Bowness Stud for $62,000 at Magic Millions.

D’Argento has had two winners and a place-getter from just five starters with his other winner being stakes-placed metro winner Rag Queen.

A Group I winning son of So You Think, D’Argento has covered over 500 mares in his first four seasons at stud so will have good follow through numbers and given his pedigree and profile you could be confident his stock will only improve at three.
