Two on the Bounce for Winning Rupert's Enna's Dream

Mark Smith - Wednesday August 30

It has taken just three starts for connections of the Winning Rupert filly Enna’s Dream to more than triple their investment.

The 3yo Alexander Rae-trained filly made it two wins from three starts when storming home under Jake Noonan to capture the Ladbrokes Yard Comments (Bm64) (1400m) at Sandown-Hillside on Wednesday.

Coming off a dominant win in a Bairnsdale maiden on August 1, Enna’s Dream defeated the Needs Further filly Subrising by a length, with the Zoustar filly Zousuko a nose back in third.

AGR Racing shelled out $22,000 to purchase Enna’s Dream from the Stonehouse Thoroughbreds draft at the 2022 Inglis Gold Yearling Sale.

“She is a quality, well-put-together filly,” Rae said.

“At the VOBIS Gold Sale, you are buying a type rather than pedigree, and she is a lovely little filly.

“Even before Bairnsdale, we thought she was a one-dimensional on-speed horse, but you can’t quantify a will to win, and her attitude is fantastic, and it will take her a long way. She is happy and willing, which makes our job easy.

“She has surprised me, so we will take it one run at a time. You must keep all options open when she is as impressive as today.”

Enna's Dream a $22,000 Inglis Gold yearling

Enna’s Dream is the first foal of the Declaration Of War (USA) mare Layercake, which retired a maiden after seven starts.

Layercake is a half-sister to five winners led by stakes-winner Secret Status (King Cugat).

Morton Racing bought a sister to Enna’s Dream from the Namerik Thoroughbreds draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale.

After missing to War Chant (USA) in 2021, Layercake visited My Admiration last spring.

It’s been a good week for Grandview Stud’s Winning Rupert whose daughter  Seonee captured the Listed Leon Macdonald Stakes at Morphettville Parks on Saturday.

Winning Rupert stands for $7,700 this spring.
