First Foal for Acrobat

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 3

A dazzling debut winner at two of the Inglis Nursery, Acrobat was a horse we never saw enough of, but that one brief glimpse of his freakish talent was enough to secure the blue-blood son of Fastnet Rock a slot on the Coolmore roster and James Bester could not wait to come and see his first foal.

Priced to appeal last spring at $13,750, Acrobat covered 188 mares to give himself a real shot at commercial success and one of the first mares he covered was Navua Mist, who produced this quality colt last night.

“Wow! It would be hard to imagine a better foal. His sire’s great head, rich colour, good body and overall athleticism. A really splendid effort. Acrobat’s first two foals couldn’t be more impressive and if this any indication, there’s no doubt he’ll be the real deal,” said James Bester after inspecting the Acrobat colt at Coolmore this morning.

He is the third foal of winning Exceed and Excel mare Navua Mist, who comes from an international family featuring Champion 2YO’s Flanders, Surfside and Air Force Blue.

Navua Mist is booked back to Acrobat as is Irresistible Miss, the dam of his first foal to arrive this spring.

Acrobat comes from a prolific Black Type family renowned for juvenile speed being a brother to Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond placed Lake Geneva and Group III winner Ennis Hill, the dam of last season’s outstanding Group II ATC Reisling Stakes winner Learning to Fly.

Acrobat stands again at a fee of $13,750.
