Konasana Advances Dundeel's 2yo Tally to 13

Mark Smith - Wednesday June 14

Woppitt Bloodstock’s filly Konasana continued the winning run of success for Dundeel’s two-year-olds when making an impressive debut in the Bowermans Maiden Hcp over 1150m at Randwick-Kensington.

One of two two-year-olds in the field, the Chris Waller-trained filly had just one of the eight starters behind her at the 150m. Coming down the outside rail under Kerrin McEvoy, Konasana motored home to defeat the 3yo Not A Single Doubt debutant Speymalt by a head with another first-starter, the 3yo Winning Rupert filly Forgotten Goddess a further one and a half lengths back in third.

A homebred for Debbie Kepitis’ Woppitt Bloodstock, Konasana is a half-sister to the winning Frankel gelding Phosphene out of the import Posing (USA), who she bought at the 2018 Inglis Chairman’s Sale from the Coolmore draft for $500,000 when carrying Phosphene.

By Medicean, Posing (USA) is a granddaughter of Group III winning blue hen Magnificient Style, the dam of Group I winners Nathaniel, Great Heavens and Playful Act, and five more Group and Listed winners.

Posing (USA) has a weanling colt by Yes Yes Yes and was covered last spring by Supido but missed.

Konasana is the 13th 2yo winner of the season for Arrowfield Stud’s Dundeel.
