First Stakes-Winner for Overshare

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 22

She was the first winner for Widden Stud’s young I Am Invincible sire Overshare and now she is his first stakes-winner with talented three year-old filly Lady Laguna capturing the $160,000 Listed BRC Mick Dittman Plate (1110m) at Doomben on Saturday.

Super consistent this season, albeit without winning, Lady Laguna put the writing on the wall last start when third to Aft Cabin in the $1million Group II ATC Arrowfield Sprint.

The Annabel Neasham trained filly showed her class when outgunning her stablemate Swiss Exile to win by a neck taking her overall record to three wins and seven placings from 16 starts with prizemoney topping $543,000.

Raced by OTI Racing, Lady Laguna was bred by Spendthrift Australia and not offered at auction. She is the first winner for metro winning Catalina de Lago, a half-sister by Encosta de Lago to Group II winner She Will Be Loved and to the dam of Group III winner Luke’s Luck.

This is the same family that produced this season’s $1million Group II ATC Percy Sykes Stakes winner Kristilli, who is by another young I Am Invincible son in Hellbent. Kristilli is interestingly also trained by Annabel Neasham.

Catalina de Lago went through the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale last year in the Newgate draft and was sold for $180,000 in foal to Overshare to Kingstar Farm, but slipped that foal and appears now to be in foal to Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside.
Overshare stands at Widden Stud Victoria at a fee of $8,800.
