Churchill filly Super Chilled Opens Winning Account

Mark Smith - Friday December 16

The Churchill (IRE) filly Super Chilled delivered on her early promise when breaking her maiden over 1550m at Canterbury on Friday.

Given a peach of a ride by James McDonald, Super Chilled led home a Chris Waller-trained trifecta defeating the Merchant Navy filly Maritima by two lengths with the Deep Field gelding Quintillion a nose back in third.

"James gave her a great ride from the barrier, one off the fence so she could roll into the race when he wanted to", stable representative Damien Fitton said.

"She may have hit the front too soon, but she had a bit in hand.

"It was good to see her do that after a few unlucky performances.

"She should work through the grades, and I'm sure the owners, Pete (Kelly) and the team should have a bit of fun as we have a high opinion of her."

Super Chilled a $70,000 Karaka yearling

A $70,000 purchase for Mulcaster Bloodstock / Chris Waller Racing from the Curraghmore draft, Super Chilled was the first lot in the ring at the NZB Karaka Book 1 in 2021.

She is the third winner for the Fastnet Rock mare Ocean Fleet, a Geelong maiden winner from two starts.

A half-sister to Group II placed Secret's Only (Choisir), Ocean Fleet is out of a half-sister to Imperador (Treasure Beach), a dual Group 1 winner in Argentina.

A half-sister to Super Chilled by Saxon Warrior made $50,000 at Karaka earlier this year.

Ocean Fleet has a yearling filly by Magna Grecia (USA) and was covered by US Navy Flag (USA) last spring.

Coolmore Stud's Churchill (IRE) has eight catalogued for the Magic Millions, six at the Inglis Classic, five in Book 1 at Karaka, and seven at the Inglis Premier.
