Dundeel's Let'srollthedice Leads Home a 1-2-3-4 finish for Arrowfield Stallions in VRC Sires' Produc

Mark Smith - Saturday March 12

A facile winner of a Bendigo maiden on debut, the Dundeel colt Let'srollthedice took the rise to Group II company in his stride in Saturday’s $300,000 MSS Security Sires' Produce stakes (1400m) at Flemington.

Ridden by Damian Lane for Danny O’Brien, Let'srollthedice stalked the early speed before peeling out rounding the home turn. In a triumph for Arrowfield Stud stallions, , Let'srollthedice defeated the $1.8million Not A Single Doubt colt Man in The Mirror by three-quarter of a length with the Maurice (JPN) colt Yaki Ishi a neck back in third ahead of the Snitzel colt Brosnan.

“He (Lane) was able to position him even if he was marginally slowly away,” O’Brien said.

“He was in a good stalking position, three wide cover with the opportunity to come into the race and no one is riding better than Damian at the moment.

“He just seems to be timing everything beautifully. Seven or eight winners from his last ten rides for us, so we’re very happy with how things are going.”

“He always was a lovely yearling. Thanks to John Foote for selecting a really nice colt for us and a lot of the owners are around Geelong.

“He came through out system and obviously a Dundeel that we were never going to push. He had a trial or two in January and then went to Bendigo and did the job there. He’s only going to improve.

“He’s now a Group 2 winning colt but he did handle the Heavy 10 the other day so it would be tempting enough to look at the (ATC) Sires’ or the Champagne there in Sydney.”

John Foote Bloodstock shelled out $240,000 on behalf of Rose Grange Pastoral and partners, for the son of Dundeel from the Stonehouse Thoroughbreds draft at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

Bred by Segenhoe Thoroughbreds, Let'srollthedice is the best of three winners from as many to race out of the More Than Ready (USA) mare Hannah In A Hurry a sister to Group III winner and Group 1 placed Golden Archer.

Hannah In A Hurry has not had a live foal since Let'srollthedice. She was again covered by Dundeel last spring.

Let'srollthedice is the 17th black-type winner for Dundeel.
