More Glory for Galileo

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 26
Champion sire Galileo is in the middle of a spectacularly good year of results with his latest stakes-winner Khaleesy bred and sold by Australian owner / breeder Paul Makin of Starcraft fame.

GalileoThree year-old filly Khaleesy was sold as part of the Goffs run Paulyn Dispersal in 2013 for 300,000 euros to Blandford Bloodstock and runs for Al Asayl Bloodstock.

Previously trained by John Gosden and now with Francois Rohaut, Khaleesy was a winner at Chelmsford last year from three starts and was having her first run this year in the Listed Prix Madame Jean Coutourie at Vichy.

She scored by a head in the 1m 2f contest and has obviously thrown more to her sire in terms of her preferred distance as she is the first winner for Champion Female Sprinter Fleeting Spirit.

A daughter of leading sire Invincible Spirit, Fleeting Spirit won the Group I Newmarket July Cup and was famously second to Scenic Blast in the Group I King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2009.

Khaleesy is the 227th stakes-winner worldwide for Galileo, who has sired eight Group I winners throughout the world this year.

Five of those Group I winners are from mares by either Danehill or Danehill Dancer – Highland Reel, Minding, The Ghurka, Alice Springs and Deauville.

Galileo has two Group I winning sons standing in the Hunter Valley this spring with Teofilo (IRE) at Darley at a fee of $44,000 and Cox Plate winner Adelaide (IRE) at Coolmore at a fee of $16,500.
