Shuttling
to Aquis Farm in Queensland this spring, Danehill's Group I winning son Holy
Roman Emperor (IRE) has sired Group I winners in any number of countries, but
added a new one to the tally over the weekend when two year-old colt Maraton took
out the Grade I Grande Premio Farwell at Cidade Jardim in Brazil.
The talented colt was sent out favourite and won the 1600 metre turf contest by
half a length, his second win from six starts.
Holy Roman Emperor shuttled initially to Australia in the first years of his
stud career for Coolmore before switching to Brazil in South America for
several seasons.
A brilliant and precocious two year-old, Holy Roman Emperor has emerged as a versatile
stallion siring 55 stakes-winners in an amazing 15 different countries!
Maraton is the first South American Group I winner for Holy Roman Emperor and
is his seventh overall joining Mongolian Khan (Australia/NZ), Designs on Rome
(HK), Rich Tapestry (USA), Homecoming Queen (UK), Rollout the Carpet (NZ) and Morandi
(France).
Holy Roman Emperor makes his debut in Queensland this spring for Aquis Farm at
a fee of $9,900 and is remarkably good value for a sire with his track record.
