Earlier
today Magic Millions confirmed blue-blooded three year old filly Crystal Flute
as being a late entry for their National Broodmare Sale, but her trainer Gerald
Ryan is thinking Oaks for the talented daughter of Encosta de Lago after her
stylish victory at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
A homebred for Teeley Assets, Crystal Flute was placed three times in her first
preparation last spring, but has returned a stronger filly this year.
She cast off maiden status last start at Hawkesbury over 1300 metres on April
14 and backed it up again on Wednesday in tougher company to score over 1600
metres.
"Obviously she's very well bred and a very valuable filly," said Gerald Ryan.
"We'll try and get her out over some ground… there's an Oaks (Queensland) in
six weeks time, so you never know where she might get to."
Crystal Flute is a full sister to Precious Lorraine, who won the Group III SAJC
Fillies Classic at 2400 metres and also handy stakes-winner Lucky Raqui, now at
stud in Japan.
Her dam Monsoon Wedding is a full sister to champion sire Redoute's Choice and Group
I winner Platinum Scissors and half-sister to Group I winner and sire Manhattan
Rain.
Monsoon Wedding made headlines of her own at the Teeley Assets Dispersal in 2014
when secured by Coolmore for $2.3 million and her Pierro yearling filly was
sold by Coolmore at Magic Millions this year for $1.4 million.
If Crystal Flute can earn Black Type in coming weeks, she will be a superstar
attraction at the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale in June.
