Australian
bred juveniles trained by Mike de Kock won both two year-old maidens at Vaal on
debut in South Africa on Tuesday.
First to salute was two year-old More Than Ready (USA) colt Act of Loyalty who
took the 1200 metre maiden by a neck as favourite in a thrilling finish.
He was a $60,000 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale purchase from the Teeley
Assets Reduction for Hassen Adams and runs for Mr and Mrs Markus Jooste.
He is the third winner for stakes-winner Gina Lollawitcha, a sibling to Group
winners Lucky Diva, Spirit of Westbury and stakes-winner Duke of Westbury.
Gina Lollawitcha was also sold at the same sale for $160,000 and is now a part
of the Sun Stud broodmare band. She was covered last spring by More Than Ready.
The next race produced a dominant win for Redoute's Choice filly Zaakhira, who
powered away to win by more than seven lengths as favourite.
Another successful Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell, Zaakhira was a $380,000
purchase from the Broadwater Thoroughbreds draft and is the first winner for Regally Blonde, a winning half-sister by Royal Academy (USA) to champion sprinter and sire
Starspangledbanner.
Shadwell have had much success with the progeny of Redoute's Choice and Zaakhira looks as though she can add to the already impressive record.
