Sepoy filly Giroux broke through to score at Ballarat on Tuesday becoming the
second winner for Golden Slipper winner Sepoy.
Second at her first two runs last year for Brent Stanley, Giroux is now with
Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra and was resuming from a spell in the 1100 metre
maiden.
Allowed to take a sit off the leaders after jumping from a wide gate, she
dashed for home off the turn and won by more than a length.
A $120,000 Magic Millions purchase for Musk Creek Farm from the Coolmore draft,
Giroux is the first foal of former brilliant two year-old Paprika, a stakes-winning daughter
of General Nediym.
Coolmore sold a Pierro filly from Paprika at Magic Millions this year for
$230,000 and she is now in foal to Fastnet Rock, who is also the sire of her
current weanling colt.
Results have been slower to come than was anticipated for former Champion 2YO Sepoy, who has had his
fee reduced this year at Darley to $33,000 from $66,000.
