Race a Star of Your Own!

Media Release - Tuesday February 9

What a stellar start imposing stallion Star Witness has made to his stud career, the dual Group I winning sprinter already represented by 32 individual winners.

That's a great effort considering that his first crop are just three, and amongst that impressive tally are three stakes winners - The Barrister, Pearl Star and Well Sprung - and five stakes placed performers.

To be trained at Cranbourne by Michael Kent is a particuarly handsome son of Star Witness and the terrific mare Twitter - a two-year-old chestnut who has a real stamp of his sire.

And what a wonderful mare he is out of, the speedy stakes winner Twitter who retired in 2014 having produced six winners from her seven foals to race.

The best of whom is the high class filly Serious Speed, winner of five races (and just short of $1 million) including the Gr.1 1000 Guineas, a race in which she swamped her rivals before racing away by 2 1/4 lengths.

Also winner of the Gr.2 Hobartville Stakes and the Gr.3 R.A Lee Stakes, Serious Speed was stakes placed on four occasions including a Gr.1 VRC Oaks second and a Gr.1 Sangster Stakes third.

Twitter is also the dam of the metropolitan winners Classic Status (in turn dam of the very fast Listed winner Victory Chant), Chickadee and Playzone whilst her city placed daughter Regal Flute is the dam of four times Group winner Majestic Music.

This is a real runners family, Twitter being a daughter of the stakes winning Sir Tristram mare Palace News whose sisters have also proven their worth as broodmares producing triple Gr.1 winner March Hare and Listed winner Queenstown.

A descendant of, and line-bred to, the famed matriarch Chelandry, this colt can also boast amongst his close relations the big race winners Imposera (Caulfield Cup, Australasian Oaks), Teranaba (Spring Champion Stakes), Imprimatur (Spring Champion Stakes), Wahid (NZ Derby, Levin Classic) and World News (South African Guineas).

And a bit further back in his pedigree are a host of international Group One winners including Indian Twilight (Yorkshire Oaks), Provoke (St Leger), Shady Heights (York International), Hasty Matelda (Matron Stakes), Gay Matelda (Alabama Stakes), Chaparral (Grand Prix de Paris) and Dignitas (Strub Stakes).

As already mentioned the English 1000 Guineas heroine Chelandry is the matriarch of this family and her descendants have fared extremely well in this part of the world... Heroic, Baystone, I Am Invincible, Zeditave, High Chaparral, The Trump, Just A Dash, Jetball, Magpie, Bellotto, Flight, Rose Archway, Anabaa and Americain making their mark on the track or at stud.

Twitter is a daughter of Gr.1 French 2000 Guineas/Grand Criterium winner Kendor, successful sire son of Kenmare and an especially good broodmare sire with his daughters producing 47 stakes winners including eleven Group One winners.

Star Witness has already combined successfully with Kenmare, this cross producing the promising Typhoon Witness who has caught the eye finishing off strongly when second (to fellow Star Witness Pearl Star) and fourth in stakes company at her first two starts.

Star Witness' globe-trotting multiple Group One winning sire Starcraft also fared well with a Kenmare cross with his stakes winners Celebrity Girl and Singapore Sling.

Starcraft also fares well when the legendary Round Table (grandsire of his dam sire Pompeii Court) is duplicated, his dual Group One winner We Can Say It Now one of many top class performers line-bred to that star.

In fact, within five generations alone, there have been an amazing 625 stakes winners with a Round Table cross!

A smooth moving, well put together colt who has had a ready-to-run sales preparation and is ready to go back into work, this colt is being syndicated by MiSyndications AFS Lic Number 260214
