The
Godolphin runners have been unstoppable of late with the winning run continuing
at Ballarat on Wednesday with staying bred Medaglia D'Oro (USA) colt Macarthur.
He cast off maiden status when scoring over 1600 metres at his third start and
is entered for the Group I VRC Victoria Derby at the end of the month.
Trained by John O'Shea, Macarthur is the third winner for Commands mare
Melodramas, an unraced three-quarter sister to Group I VRC Victoria Derby
winner Arena from Group I South Australian Oaks winner Lee's Bid.
It might look a stiff task to get to the Derby from winning a maiden today, but
given the staying pedigree nothing would surprise!
Melodramas is no longer with Darley having been on-sold in 2014 for $42,000 at
the Inglis Broodmare Sale and has foaled this spring producing a colt by Dawn
Approach (IRE).
