The first northern hemisphere-bred crop of Dream Ahead (USA) continues to make relentless progress, the Emirates Park-owned shuttle stallion enjoying another winner overnight and a brace of successes over a three-day period.
The Monday evening meeting at Windsor in England witnessed the effortless victory of Nisser, a raging odds-on favourite of a 2YO Maiden Stakes staged over five furlongs. Sent to post at the prohibitive price of $1.30, the Dream Ahead colt virtually won as he pleased, seizing control of the contest with 200 metres to race before coasting to a near four-length win.
Trained by Richard Hannon on behalf of the very prominent middle-eastern owners Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, Nisser was a £130,000 purchase at the 2014 Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale. The handsome bay colt became the seventh individual 2-year-old winner of Dream Ahead's first-crop to race in what is proving to be an outstanding debut season for the breed.
Last weekend's programs in England also saw Raucous maintain his unbeaten record when winning a competitive 2YO Conditions Stakes event over six furlongs at Newmarket. The youngster had won his only previous outing when saluting over five furlongs at Sandown.
Coincidentally, Raucous was actually bred by the aforementioned Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar but races in the colours of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing. The handsome colt notably holds entries for the Curragh Phoenix Stakes (Gr.1) and York Gimcrack Stakes (Gr.2) in August, as well as the Newmarket Middle Park Stakes (Gr.1) in September.
The first few months of the 2015 European flat racing season have witnessed Dream Ahead represented by first-crop 2-year-old winners in England, Ireland and France. These include Final Frontier, the initial black-type winner of his stud career who recently maintained his unbeaten record when landing the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes (6f) at the Curragh.
