Simply Super

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 27
If ever a horse has been well named it is surely Singapore sensation Super One, the exciting two year-old son of I Am Invincible maintaining his unbeaten record at Kranji on Sunday with a dazzling win in the $200,000 Juvenile Championship Sg Gr 3.

super One - Singapore Turf ClubThe Michael Freedman trained colt was sent straight to the front from a wide gate by Corey Brown and was never in danger of defeat.

He lobbed along in cruise control for much of the race before lengthening stride to dash away and win the 1200 metre sprint by five lengths, his fourth victory in as many starts.

The dominance of Super One has connections considering a trip to Melbourne for the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes in November.

"I'll have to see how he pulls up first and then look at the programme and the quarantine procedures. If we go down, he has to leave by the 26thof September," said Freedman.

"The first thing I asked Corey after he jumped off was what he reckoned about his chances in Australia, and he told me he would be the right horse to take there.

"If we go, my gut feel is he will not run here before he flies out. He may get a barrier trial or a lead-up run there, I'll see.

"It would be exciting for the owner and myself to have a horse to represent Singapore at the Spring Carnival."

Corey Brown was glowing in his praise of Super One.

"I've ridden a lot of champion horses, and Exceed And Excel was right up there with the best. I've ridden this fellow (Super One) only in a barrier trial and a couple of gallops before today, but he sure gives me the same feeling," said Brown.

"I barely gave him a squeeze and he won by panels. I'm not saying he would be better if he had a target in front of him, but I would like to see him take a sit one day.

"He's a very good horse and I told Michael he would be mad not to take him to the Spring Carnival."

Super One is the latest racetrack star for Yarraman Park's outstanding young sire I Am Invincible.

He was purchased by his trainer Michael Freedman in partnership with New Zealand based bloodstock agent Michael Wallace for $190,000 from the draft of Broadwater Thoroughbreds at the 2014 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Raced by Andre Lim of Super Easy fame and other partners, Super One is the first named foal of unraced Tale of the Cat mare Tails Wins and was bred by Reg Kemister.

Tails Wins is from the six time winning and stakes performed US import Multiple Wins, a daughter of stakes-winner Princess Sybil from the family of Group I winning European sprinter Les Arcs, winner of a Royal Ascot Golden Jubilee Stakes.

The current yearling from Tails Wins, a filly by Hinchinbrook made $25,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale Summer Book, so looks to have been very well bought by Marc Conners.

She has a weanling filly by I Am Invincible and will foal this spring to Sebring.

Super One is one of eight stakes-winners for I Am Invincible, who will cover a full book this spring at the increased fee of $55,000.
