Another Stakes-Winner Sold by Yarraman Park

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 23
Saluting at Randwick on Saturday in the Listed ATC McKell Cup was promising stayer Sense of Occasion, an $80,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Beamish Bloodstock from the draft of Yarraman Park.

Sense of OccasionThe Joe Pride trained son of Street Sense (USA) has been racing consistently and relished the heavy track and step up to 2400 metres to capture his first Black Type win by three-quarters of a length.

Sense of Occasion (pictured Steve Hart) was trained earlier in his career by the late Guy Walter, who laid the foundations for success for this up and coming stayer.

He has the overall record of five wins and five placings from 15 starts earning $231,325 for his happy group of owners.

"He showed acceleration at the end of 2400-metres which really impressed me," Pride said.

"He's only a four-year-old and his best is yet to come."

Sense of Occasion as a yearlingBred by Shadwell and foaled and raised at Yarraman Park, Sense of Occasion is the second winner from Saywaan, a half-sister by Zabeel to Group I winner Rewaaya.

Tracing to influential matriarch Easy Date, whose descendants include Golden Slipper winner Forensics and leading sires Snippets and Not a Single Doubt, Saywaan was on-sold by Shadwell in 2012 for $75,000 to Colm Santry Bloodstock and is now with Sun Kingdom.

Her yearling colt by Fastnet Rock was sold by Eliza Park International at Inglis Easter this year for $900,000 and she has a weanling filly by Fastnet Rock to follow.

Sense of Occasion is the 33rd stakes-winner worldwide for Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense, whose Australian bred dual Group I winning son Hallowed Crown will be kicking off his stud career at Darley this spring at a fee of $33,000.
