Following the announcement of the shuttling of ZEBEDEE (Invincible Spirit) to
Australia in association with Tally Ho Stud in Ireland, Cornerstone Stud has
formally announced their stud fees for the upcoming season.
"Our strategy has been to source proven stallions that breeders can support
with confidence. The addition of ZEBEDEE further enhances the diversification
of our stallion roster in 2015," Managing Director Sam Hayes explained.
The most precocious son of Invincible Spirit ever to grace a racetrack, ZEBEDEE
was crowned 2014 Champion European First-Season Sire having amassed a whopping
32 two-year-old winners.
"Australia lacks locally bred Classic horses and we have responded with the
likes of DALAKHANI and GOOD JOURNEY, however you can't turn your back on
explosive two-year-old speed and precocity. ZEBEDEE delivers that in spades,"
said Hayes.
ZEBEDEE has begun 2015 with a bang and is the current Leading European
Second-Season Sire in 2015 with 14 winners.
At a clearance rate of 87% across European sales, ZEBEDEE's yearlings have
averaged over 8 times the service fee at which they were conceived. They have
sold up to €330,000.
"The fact that he produces precocious sales types that are training on at three
is the icing on the cake," commented Hayes.
Already the sire of seven individual Group 1 winners and 41 stakeswinners, His
Highness the Aga Khan's DALAKHANI will shuttle back to Cornerstone Stud in 2015.
Having served a full book of mares in his first two seasons in Australia, the
former European Champion Racehorse's fee will remain unchanged at $22,000 inc.
GST.
"We would like to thank those that have supported Dalakhani in each of the past
two seasons. The response from across the country proved that we have a sophisticated
market in Australia that appreciates stallions with such breed shaping
potential," Hayes said.
DALAKHANI sired nine European stakes winners in 2014, more than any other
stallion currently shuttling to Australia. His closest rival with eight stakes
winners was High Chaparral, who he also beat on the only occasion they met on
the racetrack in the Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
Despite a phenomenal eighteen months with runners on the racetrack, GOOD
JOURNEY'S fee will remain unchanged at $8,800 inc. GST. The sire of Happy
Trails has accumulated six stakes winners in 2014/15, more than any other
stallion in Australia at under $16,500 and he has a superior stakes-winner to
runners ratio this season than the likes of Fastnet Rock and Redoute's Choice.
Rounding out the roster at an unchanged fee of $6,600 inc. GST is the stunning
looking AMBIDEXTER.
"His first foals born in 2014 bear a remarkable resemblance to their sire and
we already have breeders who supported him in his first year back on the phone
to rebook their mare for 2015," said Sam Hayes.
As a G2 winning son of champion sire Commands and hailing from one of the best
performing Australian families in recent years, Ambidexter represents a
fantastic opportunity for all breeders looking for a young sire with potential.
"It is a credit to his dam Dextrous who now has three sire sons at stud with
Sidestep now accompanying Skilled at Darley at a fee of $11,000 inc GST",
explained Hayes.
Rising 24, former Champion Sire HUSSONET will stand the coming season at a
Private fee. His book will be restricted and only carefully selected mares will
be bred to him.
Two of Hussonet's sons at stud, Rios and Husson recorded their first Group 1
winners this year. As a broodmare sire his reputation continues to grow with
the likes of Majmu, the highest rated 3YO in South Africa and within Australia
this year he was broodmare sire of Lady Jivago who won the Inglis Classic
Stakes.
"If you look at his statistics (74% winners to runners) as a broodmare sire, I
believe that his name will be ingrained within pedigree lines around the world
for years to come."
"We have seen in recent seasons that many breeders are sending their most
prized broodmares to him in the hope of producing a filly that they can
continue the line with," Hayes concluded.
