Ill-fated
sire High Chaparral (IRE) doesn't get many juvenile stakes-winners at 1200
metres, but he got one at Morphettville on Saturday when the well named colt Last
Bullet captured the Group III SAJC Breeders Stakes.
Trained on the track by John Hyam, Last Bullet improved sharply on his debut
fifth earlier this month, racing up on the pace for Sigrid Carr and fighting on
to win by half a neck at the outsiders odds of $31.
A $190,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the draft of Coolmore, Last Bullet was
bred by South Australian based Tori Park Stud and is a half-brother to dual
Group I winner and $1.4 million earner Hollow Bullet and stakes-winner Red Hot
Mama being one of nine winners from terrific producer Beat the Bullet.
Beat the Bullet died in 2013 and Last Bullet is her final foal, hence the
clever naming.
Last Bullet is the 63rd stakes-winner for High Chaparral, who died suddenly
last year.
He has good representation at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling with 15
entries and to see them click here.
