Leading Sire Nominations to be Auctioned

Media Release - Friday January 30

Service fees to star international sires Dalakhani and exciting newcomer Zebedee will be auctioned at the Tattsbet South Australian Thoroughbred Breeders' Annual Awards Dinner tomorrow night.

DalakhaniA Group One winner as a two and three-year-old during an illustrious career, Dalakhani is now establishing himself as a star sire worldwide with Group One winners including Reliable Man, Moonstone, Conduit, Chinese White and Duncan.

The service fee has been donated by The Aga Khan Stud, who stands the sire in Australia in conjunction with Sam Hayes' Cornerstone Stud at Angaston.

Dalakhani stood the 2014 breeding season at a fee of $22,000 (inc GST).

Zebedee will stand alongside Dalakhani at Cornerstone Stud in Australia for the first time in 2015 after being recently crowned the Champion European First Season Sire by winners in 2014 with 32 individual victors.

The handsome grey son of Invincible Spirit has already produced a number of star gallopers including Middle Park Stakes runner-up Ivawood, a Cartier Award finalist and one of the favourites for May's English 2000 Guineas.

A six time winner from just seven starts, Zebedee was an outstanding juvenile who has hit the ground in stunning style as a sire. He is sure to prove popular in his first at stud in South Australia this coming spring. His nomination was donated by Cornerstone Stud.

Both service nominations will be auctioned by Magic Millions Bloodstock Consultant and Leading Agent, Adrian Hancock to support the South Australian Thoroughbred Breeders.

The annual awards dinner, presented by Tattsbet, will honour the South Australian thoroughbred industry's top achievers for 2014 and the highlight will be the crowning of the Goldners' Horse Transport Horse of the Year.

The 12 finalists in the night's major award are Angel of Mercy, Avoid Lightning, Bounding, Essay Raider, Fawkner, Go Indy Go, Happy Trails, Hawkspur, Kushadasi, Moment of Change, Riziz and Sabatini.

The function will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel, North Terrace, Adelaide from 7pm to midnight tomorrow.
