Big Brown Filly Looks Prime

Joe O'Neill's Prime Thoroughbreds have been enjoying a great winning run and added another success to the tally at Launceston in Tasmania on Wednesday with another victory for lightly raced filly Bella Venus, a $35,000 Magic Millions Session Five purchase from the draft of Yarraman Park.

Bella Venus as a yearlingPrepared by Charlie Goggin and Luella Meaburn, Bellla Venus scored by a long neck over 1400 metres as hot favourite and is unbeaten this preparation reeling off three successive wins since a third placed debut back in June.

A first crop daughter of Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown (USA), Bella Venus is the first foal and first winner for Bellasham, a Shamardal (USA) mare that started just once and comes from the family of Group I winner and sire General Nediym.

Yarraman Park will present another top class draft for the 2015 Magic Million with 28 entries, nine of them by Champion First Season Sire I Am Invincible, seven by Hinchinbrook and two by Magic Albert. Click here to see them.

A regular shuttler to Vinery Stud, Big Brown has no yearlings at the sales in 2015 as he did not come to Australia in 2012.

He does however have foals born this year and was covering again at Vinery this year at a fee of $16,500.

Big Brown has had nine individual Australian winners this season headed by stakes-placed Muscovado.
