Stud shuttler Makfi (GB) opened his winning account in the Southern Hemisphere
when his two year-old colt Marky Mark made a winning debut at Ellerslie on Sunday.
A Group I winning son of Dubawi, Makfi has sired 18 first crop Northern
Hemisphere winners, headed by stakes winner Cornwallville and Group performer
Astrelle.
Marky Mark is trained by Moira Murdoch for Brendan and Jo Lindsay and a bold
showing had been expected after two solid trial efforts.
"He's a very nice little horse," Murdoch said. "He'll keep improving, he's not
really a two-year-old."
Marky Mark is from Group II placed Testa Rossa mare My My Maree.
