Countdown is on at Bloodstockauction

Media Release - Thursday November 20

Launching live on Thursday December 11, the company's first online sale will take place five days later – kicking off at 7pm on Tuesday December 16.

The brainchild of owner, breeder and businessman Anthony Gafa and horse- breaker Craig Weeding (an original member of the bloodstock.com.au team), Bloodstockauction.com has been created to provide an alternative platform for the selling of racehorses, broodmares, stallions and young stock.

"Craig and I started the site because we saw the need for an alternate method of sale and the power of the Internet provided this," Gafa said.

"Online classifieds have become an accepted method of sale but the industry really does prefer the auction method and bloodstockauction.com combines the two."

Auctions will take place on the first and third Tuesdays of each month and prior to each sale there will be a five day viewing and bidding period during which buyers have the time to research and, if they wish, have their chosen lots inspected and/or vetted.

"This is a great concept for the seller," Gafa said, "it maximizes their reach, avoiding the risk of their horses being undersold."

For sellers and buyers alike there are numerous other benefits to the online auction system. The sale is accessible by all and, with no need for transport to the sale ring, costs are reduced.

Unnecessary stress to pregnant mares, foals and nervous youngsters is also eliminated and inspections can be arranged at the convenience of both parties, rather than being restricted to a limited window on a certain date.

"And holding an auction twice a month allows lots to be listed at a seller's convenience."

Thebloodstockauction.com team is busy touring the country presenting their concept. They were well received at a recent Gold Coast race meeting and at a Beaudesert information night and they are looking forward to a night at the Scone Golf Club this Saturday 22nd November. The event will be starting at 6.30pm with food and refreshments followed by the team's presentation of the new site. The evening will finish at around 9.00pm.

If you are interested in attending please RSVP to Chris on contact@bloodstockauction.com or 1300 849 349.
