Lope De Vega was the star of a storming third session at Goffs November Sale, accounting for the top three lots on a day that recorded further surges in aggregate (+53%), average (+39%) and median (+36%), and an 89% clearance rate.
Six lots made €100,000 or more, up by five over last year, and the Ballylinch Stud sire provided four of those. Top lot was a brother to German Group winner Papagena Star (Lot 762- pictured) who was purchased by BBA Ireland for €175,000 and sold by Richard Ahern.
Yeomanstown Stud secured another son of Lope De Vega out of a sister to Chesham Stakes winner Zaidan (Lot 719), going to €170,000 for the Knockainey Stud consigned colt.
Another classy foal by the same sire was a brother to three winners including the two year old Irish Rookie, winner of the Listed Montrose Stakes at Newmarket earlier this month, who was sold by Middelane Farm to CFS Bloodstock for €160,000 (Lot 620).
Casamento proved extremely popular again today with strong prices topped by Yeomanstown Stud's purchase of a colt from Ballinacurra Stud for €105,000 (Lot 571), while Bobby O'Ryan went to the same price for another first crop foal from Ringfort Stud, a Famous Name brother to two stakes performers (Lot 539). Amanda Skiffington later went to €100,000 for a Lope De Vega sister to US Stakes winning filly Coup (Lot 673) from Galbertstown Stud.
