Sale Mail for Official Sydney 2YO Trials

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 19
A set of 10 two year-old trials will be held at Randwick on Monday morning with Breednet producing a Sale Mail for those interested in who bought and sold what - with a pair of million dollar youngsters going around it's well worth a read.

Most expensive runner comes up early in Heat Three where Team Hawkes will take the wraps off $1.5 million Inglis Easter purchase Sooboog, the full brother to Group I winner Snitzerland.

Sooboog

By Snitzel from Monte Rosa, Sooboog holds the record for being the most expensive yearling by his sire, so his owner Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum will be looking to see a forward showing.

Another expensive purchase from the same sale for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum was the half-brother by Magic Albert to Golden Slipper winner Mossfun bought for $750,000.

Mawahibb

Named Mawahibb, he is also trained by the Hawkes family as is Mossfun, and will line up in Heat Seven.

Most expensive filly on show is also from the Hawkes stable and was bought by them for $1million at Inglis Easter. By champion sire Fastnet Rock, Lake Geneva is the second foal of former brilliant two year-old Hips Don't Lie.

Lake Geneva

Gai Waterhouse will produce the colt that topped the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale this year in Northern Conqueror. Bought for $450,000 by Sun Kingdom/Gai Waterhouse/James Harron, the colt is by Northern Meteor from Group II winner Conquistar.

Several first season sires have representation, notably Yarraman Park's Hinchinbrook, who has four entries.

As a three-quarter brother by Fastnet Rock to Snitzel, Hinchinbrook has the pedigree and performance (he was a juvenile stakes-winner) to suggest his offspring should be up and going early, so it will be interesting to see what his runners here can do.

Darley are sending out a battalion of blue-bloods, while popular owner breeder John Singleton has a couple of youngsters that are sure to generate interest despite their unassuming names – Fred and Cathy.

Both prepared by Clarry Conners, Fred is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to champion mare More Joyous being by More Than Ready (USA) from her minor winning half-sister Joy Toy, while Cathy is a half-sister by Big Brown (USA) to Group I winner Dear Demi.
