First Mare for War Tests in Foal

Media Release - Thursday September 18
Blue Gum Farm is proud to announce that its beautifully credentialed young stallion War has had his first mare covered, Wizard Princess, scanned in foal.

WarBy multiple Champion two year old Sire More Than Ready from the Zabeel mareDeedra, War hails from one of the best female family's in the Australian Stud Book. A close relation to More Joyous and Thorn Park, it is no wonder this cracking individual was knocked down to James Bester for $500,000 at the 2012 Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse, War showed terrific talent right from the get go. On the strength of an impressive early two year old trial win in late September, he was highly fancied in the season opening Breeders Plate (Listed) at Randwick and finished second.

He did not reappear at the race track until an early three year old when, at his second outing, he impressively won the Up and Coming Stakes (Group 3) at Warwick Farm.

Wizard Princess is by Champion Sire Rory's Jester and is a half-sister to Group One AJC Flight Stakes winner Cheeky Choice.

At stud, Wizard Princess has already proved herself a valuable broodmare, producing last season's New Zealand 2yo Stakes Winner Jackofall.

War's first season service fee is $8,800.
