First City Winner for Krupt

Media Release - Monday September 1

Kooringal Stud's sophomore sire Krupt was represented by the second individual winner of his stud career when Cashed scored a comfortable victory on Saturday's metropolitan program at Morphettville in Adelaide.

A very consistent member of the stallion's first crop to race, Cashed had finished runner-up on no fewer than four previous occasions but made no mistake in recording his maiden success, winning by close to two and a half lengths.

KruptKrupt has so far been represented by nine members of his first crop to race. In addition to Cashed and last season's 2-year-old winner Veselka, it's worth noting that another five of his starters have also placed. These figures are even more impressive than they first appear when it is considered that the number of first crop foals sired by the Group winning son of Flying Spur only amount to 32.

Reporting on Cashed's impressive Adelaide success, Kooringal Stud manager Angus Lamont remarked: "He was reared at Kooringal along with another four of Krupt's starters to date. This quintet now includes a city winner, a provincial winner and three provincial placegetters."

Last season's juvenile winner Veselka and at least a couple of the stallion's 2-year-old placegetters in 2013/14 are in the care of Krupt's former trainer Matthew Smith.

Not surprisingly, the popular Warwick Farm horseman is a fan of the breed.

"He [Krupt] is clearly the best horse I have ever laid a hand on," Smith told AAP's Caryl Williamson in early June. "It was such a pity he didn't race again but I'm really happy to have his progeny. I've got four by him and they all show ability… They are sound, tough horses."
