Blue
Gum Farm's dual Group I winner Turffontein added a new winner to his tally at
Geelong on Tuesday when Day Two Miss saluted in good style.
Placed at her only two previous runs, the Darren Weir trained filly was sent
out favourite and produced a sensational finishing burst to zoom home from near last and win
the 1300 metre maiden by a head.
A modest $25,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Session II from the Flinders Park
Stud draft, Day Two Miss is the third winner for Porschalaine, a half-sister by
Keltrice to Group II winner Jiang.
She is the third winner for Turffontein, who is also the sire of stakes-placed
Fontein Ruby and Turfane, who are both entered for the Group I MRC Thousand
Guineas and Caulfield Guineas respectively.
Winner of the Group I MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and MVRC William Reid Stakes
as an older horse, Turffontein blossomed as an older horse and his progeny may
well do likewise.
Turffontein stands at Blue Gum Farm at a fee of $7,700.
