Buddy Bundy opened his stakes account in Saturday's Listed Programmed Lightning
Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville.
The 3-year-old son of Al Maher has been a model of
consistency in his short career to date.
His nine starts have yielded six wins a second and a third
while banking $192,500.
But the short-priced favourite had to pull out all stops to
hold off the Blevic gelding Herenoa by a short-half-head.
Pistolier made it a trifecta for the 3-year olds with the
two 2-year olds Pink Perfection and Cautious finishing fourth and fifth
respectively.
Consigned by Ducatoon Park to the 2012 Magic Millions
Adelaide Yearling sale, Buddy Bundy left the ring unsold when failing to make
his $20,000 reserve.
A half-brother to seven winners, his dam Chase The Chick
(Kenmare) is a stakes-placed daughter of stakes-winning Vain mare Paris Look
the granddam of Group 1 Epsom Handicap winner Excellerator, Group III Packer
Plate winner Yallingup and Listed winner Artistic.
Buddy Bundy is the final foal of Chase The Chick who was
pensioned in January 2012 after missing to Flying Spur.
The daughter of Kenmare was courted by some of the top
stallions in the business including Marscay, Peintre Celebre (USA) and Galileo
(IRE) so a feather in the cap for Emirates Park Stud's Al Maher (pictured) who chalked up
his 22nd stakes-winner.
The Group 1 winning son of Danehill stands at Emirates Park in
2014 at a fee of $16,500 having covered 115 mares last spring at the same fee.
