Paul Messara to give training away

Tom Walter - Friday July 25

Group I-winning trainer Paul Messara is giving up training over the coming months to take up the role of stud manager at Arrowfield Stud.

Messara will officially begin his position with Arrowfield from the start of the new breeding season on August 1 but will continue to train a small number of horses currently in work.

"Arrowfield is delighted to announce that @Paulmessara will be taking up the role of Stud Manager from the start of the 2014 breeding season," Arrowfield tweeted.

Messara replaces long-time Arrowfield employee Sam Fairgray, who is on the move to Inglis.

Impressive last start Canterbury winner Scissor Kick is among the horses he will retain until they finish their preparations.

In his short career, Messara captured wins at Group I level with the all-conquering Ortensia and Coolmore Classic victor Alverta.
